What is TNG Baltimore?
TNG stands for 'The Next Generation'. TNG is a social organization for adult alternative lifestyle group with an emphasis on BDSM for kinky youth (18-35). TNG is not a trademark name and many other TNG groups exist world wide! TNG Baltimore does support, work with, and host many events in the region. TNG is NOT a dating service or swingers club, but an organization that provides a safe and welcoming place for like minded people to socialize. TNG Baltimore welcomes all races, genders, sexual orientations, religions, political affiliations, and other walks of life.

Who is in charge of TNG Baltimore?
The steering committee meets once a month to go over TNG Baltimore business and acts as TNG Baltimore's key facilitators. If you feel there is an issue that needs to be addressed you can contact any of the following:

What is the purpose of TNG?
TNG Baltimore is primarily a social organization to bring folks into the scene primarily in our age demographic as we are a youth organization. Some are newer to kink and want a relaxed way to explore before deciding to attend larger community events. Other members prefer to play with people within their own age groups so they gravitated to TNG. Many of us just enjoy meeting with our friends. Whatever your reason for joining, TNG Baltimore is committed to addressing the various needs of its members and the greater kink community.

What are the age ranges for TNG?
TNG Baltimor primarily for people ages 19-35 (and their partners). Our Happy Hours do welcome people of all ages. Please keep in mind that while age does not indicate the level of experience many of our members are using TNG Baltimore to explore kink for the first time. The levels of experience fluctuate a lot making TNG Baltimore a great place for mentorship. Because of this TNG Baltimore supports events with an educational blend to introduce members to other aspects of the wider kink community. TNG Baltimore is an adult BDSM lifestyle group. No one under the age of 18 will be admitted to an event.

How can I find out about TNG Baltimore Events?
That's easy! You can check us out on Fetlife if you are a member of Fetlife.com, you can get updates by checking out our TNG Baltimore group. An even better way to stay current on TNG Baltimore events is to check our events calendar. If you have time to make it to our bi-weekly meet-ups, we'll make sure to personally fill you in on all the kinky happenings in the DC/MD/VA area.

This is my first BDSM event!? What do I do?! Wear?!
First of all you should relax and be yourself. Come to our Happy Hour and ask somebody to point out a TNG Baltimore Steering Committee Member and we normally can introduce you around so folks can get to know you. We're normal people from all walks of life – just kinky and much more awesome! Don't be so shy.

TNG Baltimore Happy Hour's require you to be dressed street legal. Folks dress in all sorts of different ways, but the Happy Hours are casual affairs. Play and educational events all have their own dress codes laid out in their event advertisements.

What can I expect at a TNG Baltimore event?
A TNG event can range from a simple meeting at a bar for drinks to a party hosted in a local dungeon to an educational seminar about various BDSM topics. When an event is announced, there is a brief description of what that particular event entails. TNG Baltimore play parties are sex-positive events, so by RSVPing to one, you agree you are not offended by viewing adults engaging in consensual BDSM activities and/or sex. There is no guarantee or agreement that anyone at the party will be involved with you. That is the individual decision of the member. For your first event it's best to come expecting to watch and learn more than to be involved.

What are TNG Baltimore's membership policies?
TNG Baltimore has an annual membership fee of $5. This fee entitles the member to reciprocal benefits and access to TNG Baltimore parties and events. In order to become a member of TNG Baltimore you must be between the ages of 18 and 35, sign a liability waiver, and show valid identification. The TNG Baltimore bi-weekly happy hours are free and open to anyone 18 yrs or older. You (or your guest) can still come to a TNG Baltimore event as the guest of a current member. However, before attending any event or applying for membership, please consider that this is a group that involves adult topics such as sex and/or BDSM, so we expect a level of maturity and acceptance from our members. The TNG Baltimore Steering Committee has the right to revoke membership if it becomes evident that someone is unable to behave in a respectful manner.

There is an additional cost for each play party that covers the expense TNG Baltimore incurs to rent the space where the party is hosted. TNG Baltimore is non-profit.

Is TNG Baltimore a GLBT (Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender) group?
While TNGB is not specifically a GLBT group, our members have various sexualities and orientations. We attempt to create a safe space for our GLBT members. If there is ever an issue or something you feel that TNG can do to better meet the needs of our GLBT members, do not hesitate to email tngbaltimore@gmail.com or talk to one of the steering committee members.

I am too old for your venue! What must I do?

We have a sister venue called Baltimore Beyond that is for all ages and run by some of the founders of TNG Baltimore. And remember, our Happy Hours on the 2^nd and 4^th Wednesdays of each month welcome all ages. Baltimore Beyond's Happy Hours run opposite our's on the 1^st and 3^rd Wednesdays of the month.

Isn't the idea of an age restricted group divisive to the BDSM community as a whole?
We believe there is a benefit to learning in an environment that is low stress. Just like many GLBT people enjoy going to same sex environments to explore BDSM, many younger people do not feel as comfortable around older community members (and vice versa). Our overall goal as a group is to promote a happy and healthy alternative lifestyle community that is comfortable for members of all ages. That being said, it is not divisive to fulfill a real need that has been presented. It is no more divisive to meet with people who have similar religious views or a shared kink. TNG Baltimore advertises for many other mixed audience events and encourages our members to attend in order to learn more about their place in the community.

I'm being harassed by a member and I need the issue to be addressed.
We're sorry to hear about your experience and TNG Baltimore is completely committed to handling the problem. TNG Baltimore is a safe space and if someone violates that space, we take it very seriously. Inform one of the steering committee members of any issue, either in person or by email, and we will make sure that the problem is appropriately addressed. We have steering committee members of both genders and different orientations if you feel more comfortable speaking to one more than the other.
